There’s a chain of islands you’ve probably never heard of, yet they impact your life in a major way. They don’t show up on any map or chart, but the hopes and dreams of millions of people wait on their shores. The island chain I speak of is the Monday Isles. You might say “There’s no such chain of islands, I looked it up on Google Earth. They aren’t real!” But they are real; just as real as you and me. What I’m talking about here is procrastination. One of the biggest ways people procrastinate is by waiting to start something new on Monday. They say “Monday I’ll do this”. “Monday I’ll start fresh.” The Mondays you would have done something add up. Say Monday I’ll enough times and you end up living life empty. All the things you want for yourself are stuck on Mondays that have long since come and gone.
Hopes, dreams, and ambitions get stranded on these islands every day, never to be seen again. Don’t let your life’s goals become castaways on the Monday Isles. Take action, no matter how small. If you want to start a diet or exercise program, do it today.
The best way to overcome procrastination is to simply do whatever it is you don’t want to do immediately. As soon as you feel how unpleasant the task will be, force yourself to do it immediately. If you’ll do this, you won’t talk yourself out of it or get distracted before you accomplish your goal. Whatever it is, do it now!
Don’t wait for Monday. Monday rarely comes.
